The University of Cape Coast Department of Optometry and Vision Science (DOVS) welcomes you to a trailblazing program within a leading university. We are committed to training optometrists with quantitative clinical skillset and outstanding academic accomplishments. The Department is dedicated to championing the cause of eye and vision care through innovative and high-impact research. Our notable faculty have gained illustrious reputation for scholarly research works that explored a varied range of questions relating to how the eye makes sense of light, and why vision fails. We seek to bridge the gap in eye health status and eye health services through our robust community-centered outreach programs.

Our students come from diverse cultural backgrounds to create a scientific community fostered through sharing of unique cultural/intellectual opportunities, practical encounters and expansive working knowledge in eye and vision care. Dean Awarded Outstanding Faculty Members

The School of Allied Health Sciences has honoured 25 lecturers nominated by students for their outstanding contributions to the school. Their names are listed below.

2023 Dean's Award Ceremony

The School of Allied Health Sciences has rewarded a total of 37 students for their remarkable academic performances during the 2022 Academic Year at this year’s Dean's Award Ceremony. The ceremony took place at Auditorium 900.

The Dean's Award ceremony is held yearly to celebrate students who have obtained a CGPA of 3.6 and above at Levels 200 to 400.

The awardees received certificates and undisclosed cash prizes for their accomplishments. The names of the awardees are below.
